Die Dateiendung KMZ wird benutzt fuer komprimierte KLM Dateien enthalten Informationen fuer das Google Earth Online Mapping Tool. Google Earth liefert 3D designs von der Erde uebers Internet. Dateien mit dieser Endung koennen mit Mac, PC und Linux geoeffnet werden. Diese Andwendung wird auch auf einigen Smart Phone unterstuetzt wie iPhones von Apple.
Suchmaschinen Gigant, Google bietet die Google Earth Anwendung an Online Users an die unterschiedliche Orte auf der Erde sehen wollen. Keyhole Markup Language wurde fuer die Google Earth Anwendung programmiert by Keyhole, Inc. Und wurde spaeter an sich gebracht von Google in 2004.
Zipped Dateien sind normalerweise kleiner in Groessen verglichen mit den Vorgaenger Dateien. Unzipping der KMZ Datei wird die Vorgaengerdatei mit einer KLM Endung entwickelt. Unzipped Dateien werden einzelnde doc.kml Datei, Icons und andere Informationen enthalten verknuepft an die KLM Datei. Codes dargestellt in einer KLM Datei sind aehnlich wie HTML.
Die KMZ Datei kann ungezippt werden benutzen von unzipping Anwendugen wie WinRAR waehrend KLM Dateien mit NotePad geoeffnet werden koennen. Google Sketchup Anwendugen koennen KMZ Dateien entwickeln und und zu 3D Warehouse upgeloadet werden um es dann auf Google Earth zu sehen. KMZ Dateien gespeichert in Google Earth moegen dann zu anderen Users auf dem Internet zu sehen koennen.
